Elliot Lake region has new coronavirus case

Elliot Lake and area has one new COVID-19 case.
The new case was announced by Algoma Public Health on May 2.
Through contact tracing, APH notifies all close contacts directly. If you are not contacted by the health unit you are not considered a close contact.
Case 336 is the result of close contact exposure and is self-isolating.
As of May 2, there were 43 active cases in Algoma including two hospitalizations. There are also three active cases (one hospitalized) from outside of, but currently in the district.
A total of 293 out of 336 cases have been resolved and that number includes four deaths. Fifty-five cases have screened positive for a variant of concern (VOC).
A total of 23 cases have come from Elliot Lake and area while 50 cases have been in Central and East Algoma.
