Summerfest is only days away. The 10th annual Summerfest is set to start on Friday, Aug. 10.

Roxanne DesRoches, chair of the committee, is very excited with this year’s event since it will be first at the Pavilion and using the stage.

This Summerfest brings back the car show and street dance on Third Avenue, a horseshoes tournament, bouncy toys and entertainment at the Pavilion. Allan’s Home Hardware will be having their children’s bike rodeo and BBQ. There will be an HD movie at the beach. The CIBC kettlebell challenge will also be available. The water tube slide will be open at the beach as well as the Library Story Time. There will also be fireworks.

The Smoke on the Water Barbecue Competition will be vying master barbecuers against each other for the title.

There will also be the Crunch Slowpitch tournament at the Hillcrest and George Ash Parks.

One unfortunate change is the lack of the soap box derby. Due to prior commitments organizers were not available this year. But, the Summerfest committee believe that they will have enough activities on the lake to keep everyone busy.

This year, also includes a vendor’s row with various products available for purchase. Some of the vendors are from out of town, one is all the way from Ottawa. Local vendors should check out the information on the Summerfest site if they are still interested in participating.
There is dry camping RV parking north of Apitisawin within walking distance to the peninsula.

With the church with no walls service on Sunday on the peninsula and the Mud-Bog at the North Adventure Inn, there is no reason participants can’t get out and “Live like a Northerner.”
